RHSC's 5K Invites You to Be Part of Something More Than Just An Annual Race

Rochester Hearing & Speech Center's Super Hear-O 5K & Family Fun Day is more than just an annual race, it is an inclusive and family friendly event geared toward all ages and abilities that features a 5K Trail Run, a 5K Walk/Run and a one-mile paved walk/roll or stroll option. This year's fundraising event will take place on Sunday, June 22nd at Seneca Park. Registration opens at 8am and the event begins at 9am.

Our Super Hear-O 5K is an opportunity to celebrate the superheroes making a difference in the lives of individuals with hearing health needs and children with developmental disabilities served through our nonprofit mission of “Communication for Life.”  RHSC provides both hearing health testing and treatment for individuals of all ages, but also provides Early Intervention and Preschool Developmental Services to our youngest and most vulnerable children, many of whom are currently on the waitlist for Early Intervention services in Monroe County. Our team of audiologists, special education teachers, speech-language pathologists and occupational and physical therapists are superheroes who change the lives of so many every single day.

It is an opportunity to recognize the ways RHSC has made a difference in the life of your child who needed Early Intervention services or a loved one who needed hearing health care. Courtney Ferrell, whose son received speech-language services at RHSC, is running and fundraising to help us continue helping children meet their developmental milestones. Ferrell has shared with us "for my family navigating Childhood Apraxia of Speech, RHSC has been an invaluable and continuous source of support. The combination of a playful setting, supportive providers, and meaningful parent engagement results in an impact that resonates far beyond the clinic walls. Witnessing the next corner turned each summer fills me with immense pride for everyone involved. My personal experience fuels my strong passion for raising awareness and essential resources for this non-profit that has given so much to us."

It is also an opportunity to get to know us and other family-friendly local businesses. What makes this a Family Fun Day in addition to the race is our Super Kid Zone! This year, we're thrilled to have not only Bach to Rock, Girls on the Run and Dream Big Party Co. with us providing music and activities for the kids, but Rochester Foam Dart League will be there with an epic Nerf battlefield set up while Netsin's Ice Cream Truck will be back with free ice cream for our participants.

Lastly, it is an opportunity to get involved! Every superhero needs a sidekick, and our 5K event needs help with everything from race registration to handing out water to our participants to cleaning up at the end of the event. In addition to helping make our Super Hear-O 5K a huge success, volunteering is a great way to make new friends and if you're a student, earn volunteer credit hours. If you're interested in how you can help, please contact Christy Post, Director of Development at cpost@rhsc.org

We’re expecting an even bigger turnout at our 2025 event and we hope you'll join us! More information and how to register, fundraise or volunteer can be found on our website.
