Suleiman was two years old when his mother Nesreen realized he needed help with his speech. Suleiman’s speech delays were evident when those outside their immediate family were unable to understand him. His mother spoke of her concerns during a pediatrician visit, and Suleiman’s doctor recommended she contact Rochester Hearing and Speech Center.

The evaluation at Rochester Hearing and Speech Center determined Suleiman would benefit from speech therapy and in 2017 he started receiving twice weekly therapy sessions in his home. In 2018 when he started preschool, an additional weekly session was added within the school setting. He currently sees Amy Polo, Speech-Language Pathologist at Rochester Hearing and Speech Center.

His mother has been overjoyed to see the progress Suleiman has made. Amy, his speech therapist, is able to truly connect with Suleiman, providing a soft-spoken approach that is effective in getting his attention, and re-engaging him when he becomes distracted. Suleiman has learned to sit and listen to Amy and at times he even gets ahead of himself because he is so motivated to learn! His mom also likes the fact that Amy gives her homework so she can reinforce what Suleiman learns in his sessions. The entire family has noticed the improvement.
