Tela Katz, Au.D., CCC-A
Board Certified Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Tela (pronounced: teal- uh) Katz joined Rochester Hearing & Speech Center in May of 2019, and provides audiological services to children and adults at the Rochester/Brighton office. Dr. Katz is board certified with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is a licensed audiologist and hearing aid dispenser in the State of New York.
She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech and Hearing Science at Arizona State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, as well as completing clinical hours to receive a Speech Language Pathology Assistant Certificate. Dr. Katz has conversational skills in American Sign Language, and while completing a clinical placement at a school for the deaf in Arizona, she discovered her stronger interest in other forms of communication and hearing devices. She went on to earn her Doctorate of Audiology degree at East Carolina University.
Dr. Katz enjoys working with individuals of all ages, and is a provider for the Early Intervention program, which provides services for children from birth to three years old. This program assists children and their families to receive traditional or bone oscillating hearing aids as well as assistive listening technology to go along with hearing aids or cochlear implants at no cost to the families.
In addition to completing diagnostic hearing evaluations for all ages, Dr. Katz provides diagnostic testing for children and adults to determine the presence of an auditory processing disorder when individuals have normal hearing sensitivity, but struggle to process what they hear. She also works with individuals needing cochlear implants and bone conduction devices. Dr. Katz enjoys communicating with patients via American Sign Language with individuals who use this method of communication, whether he/she is interested in obtaining assistive hearing devices or only interested in a hearing test.
Dr. Katz is originally from the “valley of the sun,” Phoenix, Arizona, where she grew up. When not in the office, she enjoys gardening, knitting/crocheting, and watching the most popular new shows with her two cats, Joe and Alba.
