"Gentle and Passionate"

Dr. Carly Alicea joined Rochester Hearing & Speech Center in June 2021 and provides audiological services to children and adults. Dr. Alicea is board certified with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. In addition, she is a member of the Academy of Rehabilitative Audiology. She received her clinical doctorate degree in audiology, as well as a research doctorate degree, from Syracuse University after graduating with her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Sciences & Disorders from Nazareth College.
Prior to joining RHSC, Dr. Alicea worked as an assistant professor at Nazareth College where she taught audiology courses, managed a large preschool hearing screening program, and conducted research. She completed her clinical externship at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf, where she had the opportunity to practice and improve her American Sign Language skills.
Dr. Alicea has conducted research studies exploring adults' motivation to seek help for their hearing problems, new methods for teaching new hearing aid users to use and care for their hearing aids, and parents’ and caregivers’ abilities to care for their children’s hearing aids. She is passionate about ensuring that all hearing aid users have the knowledge and skills to use and care for their devices effectively.
Dr. Alicea is also a parent of a hard of hearing child, and she loves supporting other parents of deaf and hard of hearing children and celebrating their children's many abilities and accomplishments. When she is not at work, she enjoys exploring local playgrounds and baking with her daughter, reading, and running.
