Free Computerized Self-Testing Hearing Screening Booth
Individuals can come to our Elmwood site without an appointment and self-check their hearing via our one of a kind, free computerized hearing screening. This simple five minute procedure will not only let you know if a hearing loss is present, but if so, the degree of severity and recommendations for any possible follow-up. A print-out of the results is available at the end of the hearing screening.
Hear Better Now
RHSC offers a unique, one hour class for new hearing aid users that helps clients and significant others better understand hearing loss, learn strategies that make communication easier, and, meet other hearing aid users with the goal of obtaining maximum benefit from the new hearing aid(s).
HearTech
RHSC has a unique program, the "HearTech" program for finding the solution that best address a client's assistive listening needs (e.g., amplified telephone, TV listener, alerting devices). This program offers people with hearing problems an opportunity to try different devices to hear which ones may best meet their individual listening needs. Assistive devices are available at all of our locations, with a showroom located at the Elmwood Avenue site.

Mobile Unit
Our Mobile Unit is a fully-equipped audiology clinic "on wheels". The vehicle is handicapped-accessible and offers a full range of audiology services including; hearing screenings, hearing assessments, a full range of hearing aid services for children and adults at health centers, as well as hearing conservation testing at industrial sites..

Nursing Homes
We offer hearing evaluations and hearing aid services on-site in the comfort of familiar surroundings to area nursing homes.
Health Fairs and Community Events
We offer periodic hearing screenings at our sites as well as at health fairs and other community events throughout the year.
A hearing screening is an abbreviated hearing evaluation. They are designed to be brief and include an immediate discussion of results and recommendations. Note: A hearing screening is an indication of hearing status and should not be used as a substitute for a full hearing evaluation.
- Annual Day of Hearing -sponsored by Rochester Hearing and Speech Center and Lifespan of Rochester
- May Better Speech and Hearing Day- as part of National Better Hearing and Speech month, we celebrate the day with hearing screenings and presentations at all of out three locations
- Community Health Fairs- Rochester Hearing and Speech Center offers hearing screenings and presentations in numerous health fairs in the community
Hearing Protection/Hearing Loss Prevention
We have a comprehensive program to prevent hearing loss in individuals who are at risk of losing hearing because of exposure to loud noise. We provide a wide range of hearing protective devices, depending on the individual's needs and lifestyle, such as:
- Musicians - rock, classical, drum and bugle corp or even garage bands
- Hunters
- Individuals who work in noisy environments (auto mechanics, construction workers, etc.)
- Motorcyclists
- People who listen to loud music (e.g., IPods, MP3 players, concert goers)
